Gogunda Palace: Royalty meets Luxury
A 16th Century Heritage Hotel
This heritage hotel was constructed as part of a war strategy as the capital of the erstwhile kingdom of Mewar ruled by one of the greatest Hindu Rajput Kings, Maharana Pratap Singh who overthrew the Mughal Emperor, Akbar, from Mewar and restored its glory.

HISTORY
Perched in the Aravalli hills, encircled by 15 kilometers of dense forest, Gogunda Palace stands as a distinguished example among luxury royal hotels in Rajasthan India. This fortress emerged as a pivotal stronghold in 16th-century Mewar, serving as the seat of Maharana Pratap Singh, a revered Hindu Rajput ruler celebrated for resisting Mughal Emperor Akbar's dominance and reclaiming Mewar's independence. Today, Gogunda Palace stands as a testament to Rajasthan's rich history of valor and sovereignty.
This was the suite where the coronation of one of the greatest Rajput kings, Maharana Pratap Singh took place to become the 54th Maharana of Mewar of the Sisodia Dynasty after the death of his father, Udai Singh II.
These suites were formerly part of the honoured private residential wing of the menfolk of the Sisodia Dynasty to which Maharana Pratap belonged. The focus is on opulence and grandeur with a hint of masculine undertones.
With focus on vivid colour and rich Mewari art, these suites contain an mirror wall akin to the the Glass palace (known as the Sheesh Mahal). The walls are adorned with hand-painted Shekhavati murals.
These rooms were formerly part of a stable for the family of Maharana Pratap Singh. In these rooms was situated the Horse Temple, an alter where horses were anointed before riding off to battle.
